I was several hundred miles away from home when I was run off the road by an 18-wheeler. My bike was totaled and my arm and leg were broken in several places. After spending a week in the hospital getting patched up, my friends hauled me back home to heal.

Since my business required traveling around the country on my motorcycle I was pretty much unable to work at the height of the season. My friends did the best they could but 4 more operations over 2 years kept me out of circulation quite efficiently.

Soon after I arrived home, I realized this was not going to be 6 weeks in a cast and life is normal again, I was going to need financial help to get by. I would have to file a lawsuit.

Where do you start looking for a lawyer? Thank goodness for the internet. But how do you sort through the hundreds of lawyers out there that are more than willing to take your case. I wanted someone to really understand me, my issues and motorcycling in general. I have dealt with motorcycle people for several decades and have always found them hands down the best kind of folks So I popped that criteria into my search parameters.

There were lots of lawyers eager to take on motorcycle accidents, but not many of them actually ride. John Rice appeared to have the legal credentials and an intimate understanding of motorcycling… He rides. That fact meant as much to me as all the degrees and promises the other lawyers touted on their sites.

I interviewed John over the phone, since I was unable to go anywhere, and we talked for quite a while. I found he was easy to talk to, understanding, not patronizing or full of himself. He explained things clearly and succinctly, exercising almost super human patience with me… and I certainly needed that!

It took us a while, but we finally got a very reasonable settlement without all the drama you see on television. I consider John a new friend and hope to ride and visit with him often. I would certainly recommend him to anyone in need of a lawyer, but especially to other motorcyclists. He will treat you with caring and respect, not take any guff from the “other guys” and is able to explain the motorcycle riding dynamics to people unfamiliar with the sport.

I have to say, “Thanks, John! You made the best of a bad situation, I am certainly grateful.”

When I first had my motorcycle accident in August of 2006, at the time I did not think I needed a lawyer. But after talking to many people it was suggested I get one for my best interest. I finished my rehabilitation and took the suggestions of friends and family. The person I choose especially after our first meeting was John Rice. It made feel comfortable to know that he had a passion for riding bikes as well. I have heard many horror stories in the past about going to court and having to tell your story in front of many people including a Judge. In a way I wanted to avoid that situation. Overall I was satisfied with how everything was handled. This experience was eye opening from the start and to know that John keeps your best interest in mind makes a stressful situation much better in the long run.
